I was thinking (yep it happens sometimes) (based on Flickr asking their members for their best photo of 2021) that it would be wonderful to see your best two images of 2021. There is so much talent on this website! This would include everyone and I bet you have a hard time deciding which two photos are your best. ....so I will start ...both of my images are a little artsy, although my eagle is straight out of the camera and the background is the real background merged with enlarged feathers from the eagle. The second is a composite of two of my images and came about when I was thinking about the summer olympics. Hunter: Geese commentators on the 2021 Winter Geese Olympics: I am SO looking forward to seeing your choices! (p.s. I ran this by Helen and she said to post it here) Pat

Here are two of my favorite images. The Blue Heron in flight was taken at Brookside Gardens in Maryland. The young violinist (7 yrs old) was performing at the local Farmers' Market. BTW, I am not sure if I had posted these images here. Pat, thanks for creating this thread .

Not surprised! Coming up with two shots sounds like an impossible task for you. On the other hand this post has given me the opportunity to delete over 200 pictures from my catalog; which should have been done long ago. Here are two photos that I like from this year....

srmoment - Very well done artistic effects on 2 good photos. Pete - I especially like the colors and the reflection of the heron in the water. Helen - Looks like a paint bomb exploded in the sky. Great shot.

Thanks for this challenge Pat. You're right, it's very difficult to select two. Had I done this yesterday it the selection would likely be different. Tomorrow? Probably different again. But here are my choices for now ... New Years Eve 2021. Best wishes to all for a safe and peaceful 2022.

Great captures Bill! Love the simplicity/color of both images and especially the size contrast between the bee and the flower.
.....and Happy New Year from the West Coast (not midnight here yet)!

Thanks Pat. I'm just down the street from you in Portland. 19f degrees here as I'm sure you're well aware.

Thanks for the post srmoment I am well pleased with a lot of wildlife and "scenery" photos I took in 2021 and could not decide. It was a chore to select just 12 photos for my 2022 calendar so picking two was a challenge. [Is that arrogant? Probably! ] So for this post, I took the easy route out and ignored about 10,000 bird and animal photos and posting two night photos instead. Aurora, November 4, 2021. Night-sky watchers in Alberta will be babbling for years about the awesome aurora shows of November 4, 2021. We live on the edge of a small town and the park across the road is a decent venue for taking night photos. It is not the best location but gets full marks for convenience...I was just 120 m from our front door. I've seen better northern light shows in the Northwest Territories, but the November 4 displays were pretty good for this far "south." Here is a DropBox link to a real-time video taken that night. This is not time lapse...actual video shot at high IS0s ... 20,000 to 40,000 The vid is only one minute...the last half shows an unusual pulsing of greens and blues. If interested, download the video vs watching inside DropBox.
Milky Way, September 3, 2021. Late summer is a good time to photograph the Milky Way. A friend and I went on a short road trip from our summer place to check out a "new" location to take Milky Way photos and the location is suitable. (Need a place with no ground-level light glows in the southern horizon.) This photo did manage to get into the 2022 calendar.

Clive, these two night photos are outstanding. Having seen your calendar shots, I can see why it was hard to choose just two.
....It has been so interesting seeing which shots each of you put forward and I hope that our talented scrapbookers and crafters will do so too.

Beautiful images Clive. I'm not surprised that locals will be talking about that light display for years.
