Yellow lettering? Added a solid color adjustment layer and then a mask. Brushed away at a low opacity and in color mode so it still revealed the photo. Looked on adobe website about colorization and tried to follow the directions with little luck. The night one I used the moonlight LUT and a yellow layer under the duplicated background layer. Painted the colors with a light soft brush. Added a reflection and a rain brush. I can’t remember what else I did. A lot of try and try again. I should write it down

Sorry, Judy. First of all I missed that you had added color to the second one....with the grass. This was the image I was referring to: The night one I used the moonlight LUT and a yellow layer under the duplicated background layer. Painted the colors with a light soft brush. Added a reflection and a rain brush. I can’t remember what else I did. A lot of try and try again. I should write it down Oh that sounds worth trying....thanks!

Mostly tried Judy's suggestions here...and then like her went off into "try this" land where I went from one thing to another. But I started with a LUT that colored the girl's coat and went on from there. This picture reminded me of a childhood friend.

This picture reminded me of a childhood friend. Excellent job; color really helps these pictures come to life. Love those screen doors; --- EEUUURRRRREEEEEEEKKK WHAMMM! --- and God forbid if you did anything to make a hole in Granny's screen. I bet a FaceBook campaign would get a lot of these people identified and may also identify the location of most of them

This picture reminded me of a childhood friend. I was hoping to erase the B&W picture, but I am clueless how to do a lot of editing within the posts here. Helen, You did a wonderful job colorizing this photo!

Photoshop had ideas that the coat was blue.

I used the the NEURAL filter Colorize. As I stated the Blue coat was the color that photoshop picked. I add some of the green on the grass and the red of the wagon. As a note I am using a Beta version of Photoshop.

Thanks, Frank. I don't have the newest version of photoshop but I was able to use the neural filter for this try. I selected the skirt, mother's blouse, baby's dress, faces and background separately and applied the neural filter to each. I did adjust the colors a bit. Finished in CE4 with a skylight, dynamic contrast and finally the pastel filter with lightened it up and to me gave it more of an old world feel. Added a white vignette at the end. Great fun.....thank you again Charles for letting us "play" with your images.

Helen,
You are very welcome! I have enjoyed seeing what everyone has been able to come up with!
I did try a few more in PSE 2021 but the other ones I tried did not come up with any colors.

ah yes, I used the neural filter on some of my own old scans and it works pretty good! Thanks for the nudge to try it.
