I was kind of back and forth as to what I wanted to use for this month's theme. But when I looked out the window this morning and saw our wonderful grounds keeper cleaning the tennis court my decision was made. After posting this I thought it might look better flipped. This way the hose leads us to the subject.....what do you think?
Our theme for this month is to focus our attention on one subject. The articles I am sharing do not apply specifically to B/W photography but can give you some tips for single subject photography. www.shootphilly.com/complete-guide-to-one-subject-photography/www.photokonnexion.com/the-simple-secrets-of-the-single-subject-shot/What you choose for your subject is up to you. Hope you have fun with this broad topic.

I couldn't ask for a better start to this challenge, Frank. I like the way you framed your subject.

Good subject - reminded me of this lone tree in a farmers field that gets carefully planted around every year. Converted in Silver Efex with a modified vintage preset Tony

After posting this I thought it might look better flipped. This way the hose leads us to the subject.....what do you think? I think the hose makes a good leading line either way Helen - flipped or not. The black and white court lines almost look like a grid for placing a rule of thirds subject also.

Thanks for this Helen.
I agree with Helen, Frank. Great frame. I'm curious though. Were there originally pictures hanging on that museum wall that you erased?

Always in search of a lone tree, Tony. And love the way the bare branches add to the image.

I guess a pair of old shoes is still one subject?

Definitely one subject, Jim. I like the way you have them hanging on the fence. Great focus on his eye, pontiac1940. Like your processing for that old steam engine, dandc.

Both of your submissions have nice texture, Pete. Nice light on the bottle opener...and a nice beer as well.
