Well, I'm on the brink of what english words I can come up with.. but the circle theme reminds me of the thing we had in the bathtub to prevent us from slipping. I like the flowers best.

The circle background is visually consistent with your choice of circular frames for the photos, making the background and subjects in harmony. The flower background lacks that rapport. Just my 2¢!

My choice would be the circle background. If it was me though I would lighten it a little but a lovely page never the less.

Both backgrounds are distracting for me. I agree - a lighter background is the way to go. The photos shine without too much need for additional 'stuff' - your arrangement of photos is so cute.
I'm betting a muted background with swirls - pastel - in that color yellow from the photos - would make the page perfect.
You could make your own background starting with a shade of yellow from the photos and with a slightly lighter or darker color, brush some abstract stuff on your page. Not a lot of contrast - you don't want to compete with those sweet photos.
I may be way off on this, but it's what I would try.

If it has to be an either or choice I would choose the flower background, but change the hue to a pinkish shade.

I am with Janice - a light yellow in a very muted swirl or batik like pattern. It is cute!

I'm in the flower camp. What you have done looks great, but I tend to agree with Madame and think the circles background is perhaps slightly masculine looking for the little girl look. Just a thought - you might even try a plain background using the color of the little girl's tutu (Is that what it's called? I'm a man ) or another pale pastel color only desaturated a bit. Just my 2¢ worth. Here's an example:

I love this, thank you for the great ideas. BTW, is there a feature I can set so I get an email when someone responds to my post? Is there a feature that emails me when a member adds a new post? Thanks!

I like your new background....much softer looking and works well with the layout!
Go to your profile and on the right click edit. Under Notifications there is the option to get an email when someone responds to your post.

Yes, this is nicer. I like the fact that it's lighter and the softer paler circles work well with your LO too.
