Well, never mind. FWIW, Apparently it takes a while to smart tag items. I left organizer running for a few hours, came back, and my pics were all smart tagged! So yay!! It's working just fine. It seems to me there should be some indicator to let one know that it's currently working on something (a pop up or message or spinning thingy or something), but I'm just happy it worked. Thanks again...

My sweetheart wife once again got me the new version of PSE...15, for Christmas. The catalog conversion from PSE14 went well. The questions I have concern smart tagging. According to Adobe, photos will be smart tagged as they a downloaded into the organizer. Checked my existing photos, many older ones (2010-2008) are tagged (dogs, pets) but none of the newer ones, EXCEPT for a dozen or so that are not jpg's. So then I took pictures of my dogs (many different poses, close ups, face only , full body, etc.), flowers, misc. objects and nature settings with my camera (jpg's) and imported them into organizer. None of those showed up in smart tags either. My settings in organizer under "media analysis" has "run face..." unchecked, "do not show Smart tags" unchecked and "analyze media for smart tags" is checked. I researched and could not find a way to "smart tag" my existing photos, so thought I'd check here with the experts. Not interested in doing it manually.
1. How to I get organizer to smart tag new jpg's downloaded from camera? 2. Is there a way to "automatically" have photos already existing in the catalog to be smart tagged?
Thanks in advance for any replies. Hoping everyone here had a wonderful holiday. Cheers, Roger

MB, thanks for your response, and you hit the nail on the head, that perhaps something in Photoscape was a problem. "Somehow", in photoscape, an option under save, "create a backup of the original photo..." was checked. Apparently, PSE , when porting the photo over to Photoscape, would rename it xyz-edited1.., then when exiting photoscape, photoscape would also save a backup called xyz-edited1 AND the new xyz-edited1, so PSE would see the new file AND the backup file, trying to save them both . Thanks for helping to point me in the right direction, problem solved. Cheers, Roger

OK, tis is going to be harder to explain than to show, but here goes. In my previous elements (10,11,12,13) I also use an external editor (photoscape) for a few things. I used to...from organizer, select a photo, click editor side selecting and select external editor. Photoscape would open, I'd make a few changes, save it in photoscape, and it would automatically appear back in the organizer automatically, slick as could be. In 14, using the same steps, organizer now comes up with, "new files found in your watch folders would you like to add them" (I never used to get this dialogue, the edited pic would just appear). If I say no, the pic is not shown in organizer. If I say yes, I get an "error" that says 1 media file was skipped, "the file already exists in the catalog". When I close this dialogue, the pic is there in organizer. It's like 1. the organizer adds it, 2. then checks my watch folder and 3. tries to add it again. But if I say no, it doesn't add it at all. BTW, my watch folder is setup as it has always been, no change there. I know I could turn off my watch folders, but then any pics I add without my external editor would not show up. "Something" has changed, but I don't know what. I hope I've explained this clear enough, but if you have any ideas or questions, please let me know. Thanks, Roger

PSE14, windows 7: Trying to be able to show the before and after on the same screen while in expert mode, but can't seem to find a way. I can toggle between the 2 using layers, but wanting to have a side by side view (before & after - horizontal), like in quick mode. Am I missing something, or is this not possible in "expert" mode? Thanks all

This link may help. At the bottom of the page is the "resetting face analysis". Warning though, it deletes all current faces and starts all over again. Mine ran for 2 days and was still finding faces. When it was done, there were still many obvious faces that were not seen as faces. So all in all, it helped tagged a bunch of faces for me, but the process wasn't as automated or thorough as I expected. Thanks, Roger helpx.adobe.com/elements-organizer/using/adding-people.html

Windows 7 64 bit I5 processor, 8 gb ram...
update, after playing for a while, it seems to have stopped. It almost seems like when I first open the editor for the first time, it's trying really hard to do something in the background, then clears up after a few minutes..

I just upgraded from PSE 13 to 14, my wonderful wife gets me a new version each year for Christmas! The problem is with the ver14 editor. When I move the cursor among the different menu headings on top, or when the menu heading opens up to submenus, the cursor lags terribly, so much so that the cursor seems to jump around and it difficult to select an item...for example, I move the cursor from "file" to "filter", it lags/jumps...then when I finaly land on "filter" and try to select "stylize", it hangs up on "filter", then jumps past my selection...after a few tries, going really slow, it will land where I want it to. Something in editor seems to be cause a huge lag when moving my mouse. FYI, the 14 organizer cursor/menu selection works fine and I still have 13 installed and both the organizer and editor work fine. FYI, I've upgraded to the latest release. Please help, this really disrupts my work flow. Thanks, Roger
