I played with this several years ago and it worked fine. If no one answers today I'll play with it again and get back to you. I did the same thing you did, had an app that I walked around with and then synced the pictures to the app and they ended up in PSE, don't remember the specifics but I checked and they are still there and showing on a map.

Deuter,
I don't use places but I looked at my PSE 13 and all I get is the map view for adding places, I tried to add a place and it worked fine and showed up in places. Not by date like you want but that might just be me. To me adding places would be a town, street or something, not a date so I understand the map. I really am not sure how you ever got the places to work with a date.
Anyway, have you tried to delete the preferences and rebuild the file. That solves a lot of problems as does doing a repair on the catalog.
Sorry I can't be much help,
Sue

I decided I was tired of my wire mess so I unplugged everything, bought some Gear Ties, neatened everything up. It looked so good I patted myself on the back. Then I turned on the computer, a smeary blurry mess. Panic!!! Went over all the wires, reseated everything and no more smeary screen.
If you ever have this problem, this is the solution. What I learned: live with the wire mess, better for the blood pressure..................

Have you done what I recommended?? Repair/Optimize and if that doesn't work, delete the preferences.

I skipped 12 so I am guessing.
1) Do you have the Tags info on the bottom right clicked. 2) Have you repaired and optimized your catalog? 3) Deleted your Preferences?

Tom, Great link, I bookmarked it for future use.
Buckskin, Thanks for all your comments. I have decided to hold off on the Tamron. I have a Canon 18-200 that I really like, just not the weight but I can live with that. I had heard that Tamron was a cxxx shoot for their lenses and Tom's link had the lens in the poor range. I would rather spend a few hundred more and get a good lenses.

The new Tamron 16-300 is on sale for $100 off until 6/20. I have never had a Tamron lens but am considering it. I have heard it is hit and miss as to the quality of the lens. Does anyone have any comments or experience with the Tamron?
Thanks

Yes, I discovered the same thing. Notifications are only on a daily basis for now. Hopefully, one day, we can get them in a more timely manner. Overall, I feel the forum is doing well. People are slowly finding us. It will be a while.

Your disk may be a little flaky. Run a chkdsk and see if you have any bad spots. This is a DOS command. If you hve never run one let me know and I will put together a how to.
I am having problems with the new forum. I did not receive any notification that you had replied. I will look into it.

I don't know where Michel is or where he was going with his solution, until he becomes available I'll pipe in. To me this indicates that the catalog is empty. A catalog does not contain pictures just pointers to pictures. I would take all the catalogs you can find and put them all in this new location, that will consolidate them into one new area, just put all releases together for now. After that, start trying each catalog by clicking on the catalog itself and see which one opens correctly with you pictures. Document what you do so that you know which catalogs are good. This is a next step. I like to approach things in steps so just get back to the forum after you do this.

x2 on the dpi increasing the size of the pdf.
You will need to scan it in at a lower resolution and that might solve the problem. It may not, they may be able to send you large files but not receive them. You can use Dropbox or something similar to transfer the file instead or have them open a gmail account, I don't think there are any limits(that I have encountered) on gmail.

ChrisAnn did a fine job explaining what to do and is much better at it than I am since I don't use Albums. If you need further clarification just post back.
