Faces from StockSolo......ideally I would have liked them to line up so that they morphed into each other better.

Ice crystals. When it is very cold (at least -25°C) hot water tossed into the air out of a water bottle will vaporize and not hit the ground. Winter 2021-2022 (I think.) Wow! Great Gifs, Clive. That water bottle induced ice crystals image is amazing.

The image of the woodpecker is from Pixabay. Great image, Lillias. It looks like the owl is thinking "I wish he would stop that noise so I can get some sleep".

Wow! Great Gifs, Clive. That water bottle induced ice crystals image is amazing. Thanks Jim. It is pretty cool ... no pun intended. I wanted to make a GIF of this but made a mistake by not using a tripod to stop camera movement. Note that the spruce trees move from image to image. My DIL is actually quite stable but a tripod would improve the sequence. Fun stuff.

This is interesting because I needed to make a GIF today to demonstrate level changes in an intermittent lake (Pakowki Lake) in SE Alberta. I belong to three or four FB photographer groups (birds, wildlife and others) and one birding email message group described as a Bird reporting site for the Province of Alberta, Canada. Topics relate to records of bird species sightings, bird identification, and related subjects.Today, an avid birder (who I know) from the nearby city reported about a rapid decline in water levels in a huge "lake" in SE Alberta. The large lake can be significant stopover lake for migrating birds and (when it has water in it) a good lake for waterfowl and shore birds. He posted two side-by-side satellite images from 2016 and 2022 showing how the lake had dried up. It was posted with no intent to "blame" but as an observation for information. This lake has likely dried up and refilled since the post-glacial era about 11,000 years ago. The lake site is in a flat basin and has an interesting post-glacial history. It is known to be an intermittent lake and randomly dries up and fills again. It is shallow with a mean depth when full of only 120 cm, so it is very flat with massive evaporation. (How flat is it? Well, its ameboid shape is about 17 by 20 km across. A 120 cm average depth over that area tells just how flat it is.) To reply, I looked at timeline imagery on Google Earth, made screen captures and made two GIFs to post in my reply. This is one of the posted GIFs. This is a practical side of GIFs. Thanks tonyw as I might not have thought of using a GIF to demonstrate the level changes. I placed the years in different location on purpose. Images from Google Earth.

Kdcintx - Your image comes up as an indexed gif - a single layer. It may be the way it was saved. Make sure that Animate is checked when saving for the web as a GIF. Looping should be forever.

Humm. The lighthouse lights are blinking on my computer. Not sure why they aren't on this post. You have my sympathy Karen. I save my animations as per fotofranks screenshot making sure that ‘Animate’ is checked etc; BUT I think that I must be missing something when I try to upload it in the usual way via imgbb as when I do that I get a static image but if you click on it then you can see the animation. However I want to see the animation without having to click on a static image first. In order to get round this problem I upload my animations to Postimage.cc then obtain the direct link from them to post in the forum here which shows a working animation. It would be nice not to have to go via Postimage. If there is a secret to uploading via imgbb to obtain a working animation from the get go would anyone like to share the secret as to how to do this please...step by step if possible for the tech challenged such as myself. Thanks in advance.

Image from Pixabay. Thank you Tony I did this one at a much reduced size 480 x 397 and as you can see that worked. Thanks again for your help.
