Our photographer this month considers himself a bit of a history buff. He finds the nostalgic aspects of history intriguing…..thus this challenge photo. It is from the original Mac's outside of Chicago.…..a little piece of Americana that no longer exists. While he seems to have nailed the exposure of this RAW image. I do think there is opportunity to “play” with sliders to create a base look that reflects your vision for the image. And as always, the opportunity for creative interpretation is wide open. Have fun with this one! 1. Participants in the challenge may provide a screenshot of their edits within the RAW converter of their choice along with the reasons for their edits. 2. Following their initial edits members may use whatever “tools" they wish to create an image that portrays their artistic vision for the image as long as the character of the original image is not lost. You may not add anything to the image that wasn’t already there. 3. Including information on plug-ins, actions, external editors, textures, sky replacements etc that were used will only help to inform members of some of the creative options that are available to today’s photographer. 4. Including layer stacks may be something to consider when presenting a final edit. Comments are restricted to complimenting another member's edits. You have until Thursday September 14th to submit your edits. At the end of the challenge the photographer will then choose three favorite renditions. This is the image we will be working on….. Download RAW file here.

So I went in a completely different direction than Frank. I edited it in Camera RAW to give it a more vintage look beginning with the vintage 3 profile. Adjusted the sliders as shown.
I then did my first creative edit modifying the autochrome 2 preset in NIK Analog Effect Pro 3. Followed by opening in On1 Effects and adding a deckled frame.

For my effort... In Camera Raw Changed Profile to Adobe Vivid... Took into Nik Colour Efex Pro 4 and applied Old Photo Black and White Faded effect Added grunge frame inverted to white and reduced opacity to 60%

I went for a straighten and crop, then a sky selection to tone down the sky and brighten the foreground. Removed a few wires and that annoying chimney. Decided to tone down the colors using a MattK bleached preset and finished off with a vignette. Or an alternative landscape crop Tony

I especially like your monotone image, Lillias. Good idea inverting the grunge frame.
Tony, nice job on the sky replacement. I am always interested in how people crop their images....I never would have thought of either one of yours.

I don't remember if making major changes is allowed - if not, feel free to delete it. I brought the photo into PS and used the LUT Day to night. Then added a couple different adjustment layers to bring in color to the sign and taillights. I added a person and used a rain brush to add "rain" Again, if this is not legal, delete it. i.ibb.co/dkmxs9P/0803-Copy-copy.jpg

blackmutt .....once again I forgot to add to the initial post that you are not supposed to add anything that was not in the original image. So being this is my mistake I'm going to say leave it as posted. If you have your layers and can easily leave out the person then you could just make the switch. Otherwise this is a good reminder for me! Oh...and I love your day to night conversion! OOPS....I didn't forget it....maybe I should make it bold....that way it won't go unnoticed....by both of us!

That works, Frank. Tried another one as well. Edited with NIK High Key, Bleach Bypass and Poster Edges.

Took my initial edit into the Artistic section of the G’Mic filters and applied the Hope Poster Filter.

I could see Shepard Fairey choosing this iconic McDonald's as a subject for his street art, Lillias . Very creative approach to the challenge.
