WOW, I hadn't really looked at this thread in depth until yesterday and I am blown away by all the various versions of an Orb. The talent and imagination of all of you is incredible. I just had to have a try at this for myself and thanks to the very good explanations as to how to go about it here is what I've come up with. (Image from Morguefile)

Really nice BillieJean! Was the original a watercolor?

Glad you like it Tom. Now here is where I show my ignorance. As far as I know it's a photograph, but of what – that's another question. If you go to morguefile and put 0064.jpg in the search box you can see for yourself what I mean. I love colour and when I first came across this that's what attracted me, that and the translucent quality it seemed to have. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

LOL; That is a nice picture! The keywords suggest it is a picture of flowers made of glass. I'm going to save that one for some future project; thanks!

That is a nice picture! The keywords suggest it is a picture of flowers made of glass. Tom, if I am not mistaken this is a photo of the glass flower art installation at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. It is actually a chandelier called Fiori di Como by glass sculpture Dale Chihuly and is comprised of 2,000 hand-blown glass blossoms. I have a photo of this on one of my blog posts.

I have to say I've wondered about that photo for a while so thanks for that information Simone. It explains perfectly the translucent quality I thought I saw. It must be wonderful to see it in real life.
