Hi Bokeh, My screen is calibrated once a week with a spyder pro. Sorry you feel like that as I looked forward to seeing some of your images and good luck to you. Great to see you are calibrating your monitor. Most people don't and then they wonder why their prints don't match what they see on their screens, but that's a whole new ball game and thread as printers need to be calibrated as well, as I am sure you are aware but many aren't. I use the SpyderStudio which includes the Spyder4Elite and a spectrocolorimeter to make custom printer profiles. But I'm very surprised you need to calibrate your screen once a week. I calibrate mine every 3 months or so. Before doing so I use the Spyder software to check if my screen needs calibrating in the first place and so far on every occassion it says it doesn't but I still do the calibration since it takes only about 20 minutes (Full Calibration) and a couple of times the need to calibrate or not has been borderline for my liking. My screen is turned on about 4-5 hours on average per day. If my screen gets to the stage where it needs recalibrating every month, let alone every week, I will be throwing it out and getting a new one.

I kept clear of all of this but I think it is or was all a misunderstanding ,,,,,,,I think the other lookin Bok was speaking of was the wide open public viewing available for and of image hosting sites,,,,,,,,,anyway it's over, it seems..............Marianne you did that on purpose just to stir thing's up didn't you ,,,,,,,,,LOL, haha, gotcha and you know I'm kidding too. If we can't laugh and joke on the other hand then we all need to go home. dick We need a good laugh after this. Yes, I hope it all is misunderstanding.

Don't need to do it once a week Bokeh that's just the reccomended interval and the monitor is a 27" that is 6 months old so not ready for the scrap heap yet.

I personally don't think it is dust. If it were it would have shown up in the very next picture in the same place. And if you have one speck of dust usually there will be more. Yes that is how dust looks in a picture. If the OP would magnify that area to 100 -150% he could quickly tell if it is a speck of dust or bird. I'm going with the bird. Dean No problem Dean.

I noticed that the camera I just got has a "clean image sensor" selection. This article sent me looking for what that means, and I came up with this: linkI'm grateful this came up so I learned an important piece of camera maintenance! Most have that these days tpgetty and Olympus were the first and still have the most effective dust removal system.By the way that fence image was taken with my Olympus camera so I'd be surprised to see dust spots. I have used Olympus FT for ten years and still do and have never had to manually clean a sensor yet,I'll see how the Nikon fairs but I have only had that a couple of months.
