Thanks Lillias for the Pinched Shapes effect challenge. That was a fun one! This tutorial presents a fun and easy effect. It is written for Photoshop, but every tool is in Elements but perhaps in a slightly different location (which is also true between versions of Elements!) If you can't find something just ask what it is and say what version of Elements you are using. Someone will certainly be able to point out where it is found.
For example, to flip a layer horizontally or vertically I use Image | Rotate and for the perspective transform I use Image | Transform | Perspective I also discovered that I can easily zoom in/out by pressing the Alt key and using the scroll-wheel on the mouse.
Anyway, the video tutorial can be found here: Mirror Box EffectHere is my mirror box effect: I am SO looking forward to seeing where you take this idea!

That looks quite interesting, Tom. I'm imagining some intriguing images are going to be submitted.

Well done Frank! Thanks for getting us started and already adding creative extensions to the effect.

That is really beautiful, Frank.
I Had one try with Elements, but couldn't get past the first hurdle. I am afraid the experts assume that everyone knows what they are talking about. I couldn't get it to mirror.
Could someone please tell me the difference between Photoshop, and Photoshop CC. And which of them this sort of thing is done in. These sort of effects are my favourites.

I am sorry you were unsuccessful whippet , but I am confident we can figure it out together. You said you couldn't get it to mirror, so I take it you were able to crop to a square, 4 copies and increase the canvas size, yes? Next, you want to flip two of the layers horizontally and and two of them vertically. I suspect what happened was you flipped the entire file instead of just a layer. Click Image | Rotate, then Flip Layer Horizontal which is near the bottom of the popup menu. There is also a Flip Horizontal, but that flips the entire file, not just the layer.

Funnily enough I'd been looking at this for a future challenge but Tom beat me to it Here's one I did a while back when I first ran across the Gavin Hoey video Tony

Wow these are incredible. Lillias you certainly took it one step further and opened the lid on the mirrow box and the squirrel is an added bonus, fantastic, you certainly had fun congratulations. Frank the frame certainly provides a great finishing touch and the colour blends so well

Kinda fun that was. Thanks for the tutorial Tom. Finally warmed here nicely and the snow on the dark roof is melting and small icicles formed on the gutter. Thanks to Tony and Frank for the border idea. Encloses the mirror scene well.

These are all great! What a great tut, Tom! I would never have thought that this would look good on a landscape image but I was inspired by whippet (yes, you Margaret! ) to give it a try. I love your results, Margaret!
