I like all of the images using this technique. Hellen, please may I have permission to use your sample starting image? There is something I would like to try using a vector tracing programe.
Kind regards Chris

Good job Helen. Like the shadow along the roof line. Nice. It's not as easy as it looks as I'm finding out. I'm onto my second attempt the first didn't pan out so I scrapped it.

Nice, Lillias! You handled the shapes and shadowing nicely. A well-chosen image to practice on. You may have inspired me to try again.

This looks really good Helen, love the added bricks and doors and windows. The use of simplify to bring everything together works well too. I've been using brushes in my next effort, surprising what you can find, never thought to look through my own photos for doors and windows. It occurs to me that I don't really take photos of buildings much, now that Covid restrictions have been relaxed in Melbourne I might get out more and take my camera....

Well done Lillias, that looks great! Good work on the shadows, did you use a gradient there? I had so much trouble with trying to apply a gradient just to the shape I had created, kept applying the effect to the whole image, so in the end I gave up and just painted with the brush on the areas I wanted to darken, that worked well for me.

I had so much trouble with trying to apply a gradient just to the shape I had created, kept applying the effect to the whole image, To apply a gradient to a shape Jacki hold down the ctrl key and click on the shape thumbnail in the layers panel to get the marching ants round the shape and then you can apply a gradient to the shape and not to the whole image. I like your town houses and the birds are a nice addition.

I like your houses, jackscrap. And the doors are great. How did you create them? blackmutt....I don't think there is an easy way to do this. What I find really impressive is the depth and shading he creates. I may try another one this week.

I am sure I did this the hard way, but I learned a couple of new things. Not sure this was a good photo to work on but.... Looks good Judy, I agree it is difficult to find the right photo.

I like your houses, jackscrap . And the doors are great. How did you create them? Helen, I think the doors all came from Deviantart.
