One more attempt. I like how this technique promotes shapes. This image is one of Helen's ... the original is below posted on the right. The edited image uses the shapes minus any detail. The colors chosen were based on the split complementary scheme. Thanks Helen ---this was fun

I was inspired by everyone's wonderful inventiveness - had to participate cat/dog silhouette from pixabaydoor was created using beveled rectangles with wood grain texture added handle is upside down exclamation point from a chunky font with bevel added

A new one from Gerry today. I thought it was interesting to see how he designed and used color this image.....

I'm late to this discussion as I've been away from the site for awhile, and maybe this has been covered already, but I tried this technique and love it. I found that you really have to find a good subject with geometry and shadows - something simple that is actually complex and perhaps with a few interesting elements (i.e. person, tree, animal) to add interest. Once I found a subject I broke it down into geometric elements, converted it to colors from the photo and then added back a little of the original photo. It was a lot of work, but really worthwhile.
....my 2 cents (...I know, I know, the penny is obsolete)

Would love to see your results, srmoment . I think those of us who have tried this are basically doing similarly to what you have found that works. Your post made me go back and watch the video included in the original post again.........helpful to see his original images and how he transformed them.
