DISTORTED VISION This is a bus stop poster near my house advertising a local optician. Kind of makes you feel you need a new pair of spectacles! No special effects have been applied - just a levels adjustment. The poster is mounted within glass and over time it has collapsed on itself. Kind regards Chris

a local criterium. I need to practice in order to capture the speed and motion involved. I had to look up "criterium." You did a good job of panning. The blurred effect on the cyclists is perfect. Zoom zoom. Thanks Clive. I also had to look up criterium. Panning these racers was a real challenge. I need to practice on slower moving things ... perhaps turtles

I need to practice on slower moving things ... perhaps turtles HA HA! There are two quite different ways to pan. 1) high shutter speed such as 1/1,600 second or 2) much slower. The first will stop action like the cyclists and yet might show a small amt of background blur. But a slower speed will vastly blur the background and somewhat blur the subjects like the cyclists which is what you did and it works to show the action. Somewhere in the middle is a sweet shutter speed. Great to have digital so you can experiment. Fun stuff.

This is probably Smooth Blue Beardtongue, a native wildflower.

An apple goes a long way in shortening that distance; just make sure everybody gets an apple --- or slice of an apple.
