Straight combining canola and a mule deer buck. Both great shots, Clive. That combine looks like it's coming after us. The mother of all combines!

Thanks Jim. Had a nice chat with the mother of the two men driving the two combines. Unfortunate about the smoke. Great rain here last night.

I remember our first self-propelled combine. It was an International Harvester, it cut 12 feet at a time, the grain bin held 40 bushels. That green thing might have been 40 feet wide with a grain bin that maybe holds 350-400 bushels! I think that JD could swallow our International! cjt

This was the self propelled combine we had in Manitoba, when I was growing up! That's cool, Wayne. Brings back memories of my childhood in WI.

The Full Moon yesterday (31 Aug 2023). Sharpened in PSE 2020 using Foto Franks Invert Blur method and Topaz photo AI and some tweaking in Lightroom (clarity etc). Taken on a cheap lens with a built in teleconverter set to 1300 mm, 1/125 at F16.

They say it was also a "Super Blue Moon". Here's NASA's info about it: moon.nasa.gov/news/197/super-blue-moons-your-questions-answered/

There are a lot of goldfinches in our summer yard. Fattening up for the trip south. This is an immature goldfinch. I had to drive into Pincher Creek today and was rewarded with an osprey that allowed me to take a few snapshots from only ~30 m away. EDIT: The goldfinch was photographed yesterday. Oh well.

Couldn't resist taking a picture of this clock that I saw at a friend's today.
