The RAW Challenge is a great learning opportunity where members share their approaches to editing the provided RAW file.
This Canon RAW file is of Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermens' Island), a tiny island in Lake Maggiori in northern Italy.
The Photographer's Description:
We were heading there by boat from the nearby mainland resort town of Stresa for our first Italy tour dinner.
Shooting from a moving boat near dusk I had to use a fast shutter speed and high ISO to capture this small human-made environment against the magnificent backdrop of the massive Italian Alp ranges beyond.
I would enjoy seeing how other PSE&More members might crop and/or edit this image in terms of adjusting tones and colors to provide a good balance between subject and background, and a greater sense of depth to the distant mountains.
1. Participants in the challenge may provide a screenshot of their edits within the RAW converter of their choice
along with the reasons for their edits.
2. Following their initial edits members may use whatever “tools" they wish to create an image that portrays their artistic vision for the image
as long as the character of the original image is not lost.
3. Including information on plug-ins, actions, external editors, textures, sky replacements etc that were used will only help to inform members
of some of the creative options that are available to today’s photographer.
4. Including layer stacks may be something to consider when presenting a final edit.
You have until Thursday May 12th to submit your edits. At the end of the challenge the image creator will select his/her three favorite edits.
Comments are restricted to complimenting another member's edit.
