I will add that, you can leave the Image Properties window open and active at all times and it will automatically switch to whichever image is selected; there is no need to close and re-open between images.
When I need it out of my way, I just grab the top edge and slide it down behind the Task Bar, leaving just the image name portion showing; then, when I need to see the information, I grab it and slide it into view.
When viewing in Full Screen, you don't even have to open Image Properties; just mouse over to the right edge of the window and Image Properties will fly out into view.

Charles, I'm long-time user of FastStone Image Viewer. Once you have the larger (non-thumbnail) version of your photo on the center of your computer screen simply move your cursor to the rightmost edge of your screen. A window will pop up with exif and other data information as shown in this example below:

I do not know why Photoshop Elements 19.0 shows on this Exif Data as I have PSE 2021 and no other Elements program on my computer. Charles, This can be quite confusing. Adobe stopped using sequential numbers when naming versions of Elements. The last version to follow this pattern was Photoshop Elements 15. Now they are using sequential years. Ex.: PSE 2018, PSE 2019, etc. This means that under the hood, . . .PSE 2018 = version 16.0 PSE 2019 = version 17.0 PSE 2020 = version 18.0 PSE 2021 = version 19.0Thank you very much!!! There is so much you know about Photoshop, Elements Lightroom and a host of other programs! You are nothing short of Amazing!!

Is it possible to find the EXIF data of pictures within FastStone?
There are several ways to access and view the data.
To see a window similar to that you posted, in the line of options at upper-left, click View; from that drop-down menu, click Image Properties.
You should then see a window that has three tabs, EXIF, Histogram, and jpeg Comment.
A really neat trick in the EXIF tab is, down at the bottom, if the image has GPS data, there will be two little icons where it says GPS; click the little multi-colored square icon and the location will display in Google Maps; click the little blue globe icon and Google Earth Pro will immediately open and zoom in on the image location.
Beside the two little GPS icons is a little Asterisk; click that to switch the GPS display between nautical Degrees/Minutes/Seconds and Decimal coordinates; this feature is very handy when you have one and need to know the other.
You can right-click anywhere in the EXIF display and copy the entire EXIF contents to the clipboard for pasting in Notepad or any other text document.
If you need to see even more information, you can access File Properties in more ways than I can count; in File Properties, you want the Details tab.
One quick way to access File Properties is to left-click the file name at the top of the Image Properties window.
In the Details tab of File Properties, you can edit many of the fields by clicking them to hi-lite; then, mouse to the right half of the blue hi-lite bar and left-click again to allow editing; once you are done with your edit, mouse back to the left end of the bar, left-click to set, and then click Apply at bottom-right.
Thank you BuckSkin! I have copied this tutorial to my computer!!

Is there a way to change the background to be the same as yours? No really big deal, yes I could live with it but I do like yours better....

It's been a long time since I made the change so please let me know if this doesn't work: In the browser view of thumbnails along the top strip of icons click on the settings icon (just right of the printer icon) (circled in red) The settings window will appear with the leftmost Viewer tab selected. Click on the Normal View Background strip (at the red arrow) and click on the black square from the color options presented. Then save the changed setting. I think that will do the trick.

Thank you Pete! It almost ALL worked... I found the settings icon no problem. I thank you greatly for the screen shots!! Here is my second screen shot I changed the screen selection to black as you showed me, then I clicked on OK to save my changes I got this message: "Specified Startup folder does not exist." How do I fix this error?? Also do you know how I can change the entire color of the FastStone color to match yours? My entire FastStone color is white. I am also wondering if you are using a Mac computer? I am using a Windows 10 machine. My first screen shot does not appear to have as many icons as you have.....

I have never figured out a way to do a search for a specific filename in FastStone. Is there a way to do this? Thank you for the above tips. I've used FastStone for years and never really explored its features!

Thanks Charles for posting your Settings screen shot.
On the right end of the Startup Folder field is a small downward pointing "v" Click on it & from the dropdown list replace "Specified" with either "System Default" or Last Used". That will fix the Startup Folder error.
My Settings screen also has black as the color selected for the Full Screen Background Color and File Name Background Color fields.
Lastly I do not have a check mark in Show filename in Full Screen - text. Instead I have the check mark in the next choice - Show filename in Full Screen - Background
Hope this helps.

The Startup Folder field is the first item under the Viewer Tab as shown in your earlier screen shot and circled in red below:

You guys may all already be very well aware of this === you can run TWO instances of FastStone at the same time.
To open a second instance/window, either right-click the Task Bar icon and then left-click FastStone Image Viewer; or, and this is what I do, center-click the icon (mouse wheel click) and another instance will immediately open.
Each instance will operate completely independent of the other.
This is a very handy ability as you can have two completely different things going on at the same time; plus, you can put the two windows side-by-side and drag/drop between them; or, put an instance of FastStone beside an Explorer window and drag/drop between them.
As for opening multiple instances, digiKam is capable of having several independent instances open at the same time; and, XnViewMP is capable of running many instances; I don't know if there is even any limit on how many XnViewMP can have open at the same time.

Good question.
I have never looked into this; I will check and see if I can figure something out.
