Thanks Charles for posting your Settings screen shot. On the right end of the Startup Folder field is a small downward pointing "v" Click on it & from the dropdown list replace "Specified" with either "System Default" or Last Used". That will fix the Startup Folder error. My Settings screen also has black as the color selected for the Full Screen Background Color and File Name Background Color fields. Lastly I do not have a check mark in Show filename in Full Screen - text. Instead I have the check mark in the next choice - Show filename in Full Screen - Background Hope this helps. Pete, Thank you! I am now able to SAVE my Startup Folder. Yay!! However when I did this I did not see any changes in my background colors I was hoping to see......

You guys may all already be very well aware of this === you can run TWO instances of FastStone at the same time.
To open a second instance/window, either right-click the Task Bar icon and then left-click FastStone Image Viewer; or, and this is what I do, center-click the icon (mouse wheel click) and another instance will immediately open.
Each instance will operate completely independent of the other.
This is a very handy ability as you can have two completely different things going on at the same time; plus, you can put the two windows side-by-side and drag/drop between them; or, put an instance of FastStone beside an Explorer window and drag/drop between them.
As for opening multiple instances, digiKam is capable of having several independent instances open at the same time; and, XnViewMP is capable of running many instances; I don't know if there is even any limit on how many XnViewMP can have open at the same time.
When you are referring to running two different instances of FastSone at the same time are you talking about running two different versions of FastStone? Or are you swaying we can run two different same versions of FastStone at the same time?

Same version - two instances - as in two separate working windows of FastStone, both doing different things or doing the same thing across two windows.
It is just like when you open several Explorer windows, except it is FastStone.
Try it --- with the program Open, mouse down to the FastStone Task Bar icon and Center-click(Mouse wheel click) and a second instance should open.

I am using version 7.6 and they removed a feature from it that I really miss a lot = Show Tagged Files Only.
Well, I am going to have to back up and retract my statement about the lack of "Show Tagged Files Only" in my Version 7.6.
While I was looking for an answer to srmoment's QUESTION, I discovered a little red square; and, when I moused over it, it said "Tag Filter; when I clicked it to see what it was, the same menu that Inspector had posted for me appeared; so, I have had the ability all along --- they have just moved it from the "Tag" tab and hidden it where I would never see it.
Always before, anything to do with tagging had always been under the "Tag" tab ----- where one would expect it to be.
I made several attempts at getting a screenshot, but that is impossible as it would always disappear.

I am happy to learn you found you did always have Show Tagged Files Only BuckSkin! Who is this Inspector you referred to?? I have had the same problem on more programs than just FastStone of text disappearing when I want to use it!

How to get a screenshot with a drop down menu showing… BuckSkin and Inspeqtor you both appear to be using a version of Windows OS and should therefore also have the Paint App which comes with Windows. So with FastStone open and the drop down menu of choice showing look at your keyboard and click the PrtSc (Printscreen) key usually found along near the right hand end in the top most row of keys. Then open up the Paint App and click on Paste at top left of the PaintApp screen and choose Paste from the drop down and your screenshot complete with the chosen drop down menu should show in the main body of the Paint App. It's just a case then of either saving the whole thing or cropping to the part you want – save and your done. As per example below...

I wanted to do a screen shot, but everytime I tried, the tag dropdown window would disappear. I made several attempts at getting a screenshot, but that is impossible as it would always disappear. You can also use Elements to do the same. 1. Use the Print Screen key to capture a screenshot. 2. Open the screenshot in Elements by doing File>New>Image from Clipboard. 3. If necessary, resize/crop the screenshot. 4. Save the screenshot. NOTE:Depending on your computer configuration, you may have to use the Fn key + the Print Screen key OR the Windows Logo key + the Print Screen key.

Thanks for this information about using more than one instance of FastStone at the same time, Buckskin. Never thought about doing so. I tried it on my laptop running Win 10 and it works like a charm. Now conjuring up potential uses!

I looked for the Paint App you referred to, but all I find is "Paint 3D" Is this what you are referring to? I would not think so, I do remember having a different Paint program years ago, but now I do not remember the official name of that paint program. Can you help me look for the app you were talking about?

While awaiting a reply from BillieJean try: 1. On the list of programs in your Start Menu scroll down to the "W" section 2. Click on the "Windows Accessories" listing (first arrow below) 3. From the ensuing dropdown menu of Accessory items click on "Paint". (it's the 5th item on the list} (2nd arrow below) You are now in Microsoft's Paint program.

Thanks, Pete61; I have never yet opened Paint to even see what it is or what it does.
In my Windows 7 Pro, instead of in a Windows folder, it is almost at the top of the list in Accessories; once I open the Accessories folder, it is the seventh choice from the top.
Maybe some day I will open it to see what it is.

Sorry I'm late in responding to your question Inspeqtor but by the time you had posted I was in bed and didn't see it till this morning.
However pete61 had my back (thanks Pete) and provided the answer. Another way to access the Paint App is just simply type the word Paint in the Windows search facility and then click on the Paint icon which appears top right of the dialogue.
