Please consider becoming a host for the Creative Effects Challenge. All of our challenges and contests are hosted by one or more generous members such as yourself.
The Creative Effects Challenge is offered once every two weeks. We currently have 4 hosts, so your turn would come around every 10 weeks. You are not expected to create a new tutorial (but are welcome to if you wish!). Rather, your role as a host is to present a technique that you find interesting. To assist you we maintain a special board, visible only to CEC hosts, which has a large number of tutorials that you can use for your Creative Effects Challenge.
If you value the Creative Effects Challenge please think about joining the CEC team and keep it going. If you would like to give it a try, or have any questions before you decide, please send a Personal Message to Tpgettys . Thank you for considering this request!
In the meantime, the challenge this time is to pick one (or more!) of the past Creative Effects Challenges and give it another try, or find a past challenge that you didn't get to the first time around, and post your results in this thread. Here is the complete list of the Creative Effects Challenges for you to choose from. You *will* be amazed by the many wonderful tutorials in our collection! I look forward to seeing your creations!

Always fun to go back and review past challenges, Tom. Nice to see this as a rotating feature in the CE Challenge. I went way back to CE Challenge No. 7....Creating a Silhouette Effect. The tree was a picture I had taken last October, the owl is an added png from pngtree. Background is Casanova from Adobe Paper Textures. To finish it off I added an owl quote from David Almond.

Great starter and the pencil sketch effect enhances the historic look.

Checked out the cartoon tut, Lillias. It was a very popular one....plus quick and easy so decided to give it a try.

This is really a combination of the Lithograph Effect and the Pencil Sketch Effect both found in the Quick Edits of PSE. Took image into Quick Edits and applied the Lithograph Effect first. Took duplicate image into Quick Edits and applied the Pencil Sketch Effect. Back in PSE I applied a levels adjustment to the Pencil Sketch effect to emphasize it and then blended the result with the Lithograph image using the Linear Burn blend mode. Image from MorgueFile.

It came out really nicely Lillias! I like the duotone effect that resulted from it.

For this image I chose the Creative Effects Challenge No.16 - The Hollywood bowl effect, and added the Indian Summer filter from the Nik collection

Took some time tonight to work on this. Used CE Challenge No. 12 - Pencil Sketch the Easy Way. I liked how easy this really was and that it produced a great result. I did take the advice of the creator of that challenge and used it on architecture. This is the haunted building across from our bed and breakfast in St. Augustine. Our B&B was haunted, too...some of the other guests had some interesting experiences there! I may try it on something a bit different when I have some time! And the original:

I thought I would practice the Pencil Sketch again...trying to build up muscle memory for this one!!! Same building, different view.
I wanted to use this one: CE Challenge No 135 Lithograph Effect, that Lillias used, but I can't do it in Photoshop. There are no FX Effects in Photoshop. I really do love the look of that one!
